I like Hot Hatches and I like McLaren, a friend of mine knows this and forwarded me that old Jalopnik story on the McLaren Hot Hatch. We now know this to be bollocks but it got me thinking. Will McLaren only ever make Supercars?
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
Due to various reasons such as EU laws and market conditions, various manufacturers have gone against their principles and forayed into unfamiliar territory.
Sometimes it works
and sometimes it doesn't.
McLaren like Aston don't have a parent company to balance out their emission quotas but unlike Aston they built their cars to be very efficient. Plus unlike Porsche from over a decade ago they aren't struggling to sell cars heck they've sold over a 5000 cars in almost 3 years which is bloody impressive for such a small manufacturer (Yes, McLaren are a small manufacturer, don't let the P1's ability to pull 2.2G in a turn fool you).
So will McLaren branch out from the Mid-Engined Sports car segment? I'm not sure.
All in all, I think what I'm trying to say is that I really want a McLaren Hot Hatch.

McLaren should help Honda create the next NSX Type-R variant using their current-F1 experience in hybrid technology and aerodynamics. Potentially market it as their own to give them a green carbon footprint.

So what will they do with this?
It will be an interesting battle between the NSX and the Sports Series.

McLaren Elsie: cut the 3.8 in half ~300hp cute little CF tube. Price-wise it'd probably still be at least $70, but it would probably keep up with a C7.

An insane Big Block Chevrolet powered homage to their CAN AM days.
